Getting to San Sebastian
By plane
 
 
  • Donostia-San Sebastian Airport (EAS), 18 km. Bus (Interbús - E21) (3€ ) / Taxi (50€)
  • Bilbao Airport (BIO) , 110 km. Bus (from Bilbao 12,90€ (Pesa) 7,75 (Alsa)) / Taxi (150€)
    Bus service to San Sebastian departs every hour from the airport. Bus companies: Alsa and Pesa (trip takes about 1 hour).
  • Biarritz Airport (BIQ) (France), 45 kms : Bus (from Biarritz 10€) / Taxi (80€) / Train (from Hendaye 7 €)
    Take a taxi or bus#6 to Biarritz railway station and then take a train to Hendaye (concerning the transport from Hendaye to San Sebastian, please see section "By Train").
  • Vitoria-Gasteiz Airport (VIT), 110 kms : Bus (10€ ) / Taxi (90€)
    Only taxi service from the airport to Vitoria city center. From Vitoria to San Sebastian: bus service (B
    urundesa, Pesa, Continental-Auto. Bus station address: c/ Los Herrán, 50) and a railway service ( Renfe, address: Plaza de la Estacion), with trains departing every 3 - 4 hours. Trip takes 1h. 45 min. approx.
  • Pamplona Airport (PNA), 80 kms : Bus (8€ ) / Taxi (75€).
    Take bus #16 to Pamplona center. Buses (La Roncalesa) to San Sebastian depart from the bus station.

    Bilbao and Biarritz are the airports with more links to main European airports (Berlin, Copenhague, Frankfurt, Lisbon, London, Milan, Munich, Paris, Prague, Rome, ...).

RENFE
The company RENFE rail service offers both long-distances train and suburban
The train station in the centre of San Sebastian, the Estacion del Norte, offers connections to numerous Spanish cities including Madrid and Barcelona, and to intemational destinations such as Paris and Lisbon.

Train journeys to and from San Sebastian will gain enormously in speed with the new Tren de Alta Velocidad (high speed train),due to connect the cty with other destinations in the near future.

EUSKO TREN
There is also an underground railway, the Eusko Tren, a narrow-gauge train connection with Bilbao and cities along the Basque Coast,such as Zarautz.The service linking it also Hendaye (France) and the SNCF, french rail service, with Lasarte passing through Donostia. The train is popularly known as the "Topo" or "Mole"

SNCF
The French company SNCF connects with world capitals such as Paris from Hendaye train station. A TGV train (high speed train) covers the 800 Kms between Paris and Hendaye (22 kms from San Sebastian) in approximately 5 hours. The price is cheaper if the ticket is booked one month in advance.
To get from Hendaye (France) to San Sebastian take the "EuskoTren" train, just next to Hendaye railway station. There are trains to Donostia / San Sebastián every 1/2 hour. This trip takes around 45 min.

   
By Car

Getting to San Sebastian by car is very easy.The city is connected to the rest of spain and France by the N-1 (the national highway connecting Madrid to lrun), the A-63 {Paris-lrun) and the A-15 (Pamplona-San Sebastian) motorways.

 
By Bus
The San Sebastian new bus station has lines to cities throughtout Spain and part of Europe

The bus station "Estacion DONOSTIA Geltokia",is situated in Paseo Federico García Lorca 1, near the RENFE train station - Estacion del Norte.

The underground station has 21 bays, a cafe, news stand and a left luggage office with 66 lockers where you can leave your belongings. Navilens and Navilens Go app system signals posts are available all around the station. lt also has two floors of parking space for up to 384 vehicles

Eight of the city's Dbus lines will stop in the area around the station, on the ground level the lines 17, 24,37 and 45 in front of Renfe train station; 9, 41, 42 at Duque de Mandas street and 27 at Gernikako Arbolaren pasealekua next to Maria Cristina bridge

On the DBUS buses you can pay cash (maximum 20€ bills), with $$CARD and BASQUECARD tourist cards,with MUGI, BAT ana BARIK trarnsport cards or with contactless credit cards

Private cars that need leave or take friends and relatives at the bus station can use the "Estacion" underground parking 15 minutes for free.
